ARTMIC was the animation design studio responsible for classic anime like Genesis Climber Mospeada (Robotech), Bubblegum Crisis, Megazone 23, Gall Force, Dragon’s Heaven, Genocyber, and many more. This 56-page book covers the history and development of ARTMIC from their origins in the late ‘70s through to their demise in the late ‘90s.

Overseas Sales

- The publish date for the first printing should be January 2025, not 2024 as written.
Sources
- ARTMIC Design Works B-Club Special
Perhaps the best single source on ARTMIC, particularly since most of it was written by actual ARTMIC staff circa 1987. Doesn’t cover their later work (obviously), but a great place to start. - Bubblegum Crisis B-Club Special
The last Bubblegum Crisis book published, so this is the definitive source on the series. - Bubblegum Crisis Movic Completed File (No. 5 & No. 6)
Movic’s Completed File series mostly focused on reproducing settei (line art) used in production, but these two volumes have some interesting extras like the original Crisis pitch document. I’m not sure why, but both of these books are very expensive now. - Entertainment Bible #19 ARTMIC Big Picture Book
Tankoubon-sized book about ARTMIC, actually one of two Entertainment Bibles published about the studio. Mostly settei and basic series info, but this particular volume includes information about the studio’s history. - Macross Perfect Memory
- Omega City 23 Pitch Document
- Metal Skin Panic Pitch Document
- Hideki Kakinuma Interview, Great Mechanics DX3, Winter 2007.
- Horibuchi, Seiji. Toshimichi Suzuki Interview, Animerica, Vol. 1 No. 3, May 1993.
- Loveridge, Lynzee. Q&A: Legendary Mangaka Kenichi Sonoda, Anime News Network.
- Sukehiro Tomita Interview, Great Mechanics G, Winter 2023.
- Yoshihisa Abe Interview, Akiba Research Institute.
